The 23rd annual Chukkers for Charity polo match took place at Orrin Ingram’s Riverview Farm in Franklin on Saturday where Ironhorse Farms faced off against Colonial Hill Farm.

This year’s theme was “Divots and Downton” complete with plenty of bowties, pinstripes and sun hats on the hundreds of attendees.

The Ironhorse Farms team represented the United States and defeated the British Commonwealth team of Colonial Hill Farm, with a score of 6-5.

The Ironhorse Farms team included Tim Kyne, Aaron Barrett, Wes Finlayson and Stevie Orthwein, who was awarded Most Valuable Player. The Colonial Hill Farm team was represented by Lexie Armstrong, Zulu Scott-Barnes, Max Secunda and Whistle Uys.

This year’s event raised nearly $200,000 for the Rochelle Center and Saddle Up!, two local organizations that support individuals with disabilities.

The clear skies saw temperatures in the upper 80s but not hot enough to stifle the day that also saw attendees, many dressed in line with the theme of the day, enjoy a hot dinner under the large, white tent fashioned with American and Union Jack flags all while sipping on mixed drinks and cheering on the teams of riders.

A classic car show, cabana decorating contest, silent auction, petting zoo and a children’s stick horse race were also part of the day’s attractions.
