2019 MALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR: Franklin High School, Reese Glover

After a fiery season on the basketball court that gave him multiple accolades and a state tournament berth, Franklin High School’s former senior hoops phenom Reese Glover earns the honor for the school’s 2019 Male Athlete of the Year.

Glover won the 11-AAA’s District MVP Award and was the 6-6A Region Tournament MVP.

He was named the Home Page’s WillCo 2019 Basketball Player of the Year and won the Male Basketball Player of the Year honor at the county’s WillCo Awards.

The Franklin Rebels were the Home Page’s 2019 Boys Basketball Team of the Year and won the Male Team of the Year trophy at the WillCos.

He reached the 2,500-point mark on his illustrious career in the team’s state tourney loss to Bearden.

“(Reese) is a legend in this school,” now-former Franklin head coach Darrin Joines said of Glover in the team’s sectionals win. “That family is legendary to this school. Those brothers, they played in four sub-state games – 2007, 2009 and now Reese back-to-back years.

“That’s been a special, special family to our school. He’s just something else. He’s the most dynamic scorer I’ve ever seen – certainly the most dynamic I’ve ever coached.”

He will be continuing his basketball career at Missouri Western St. in the fall under head coach and former Don Meyer player Sundance Wicks.
