2019 FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR: Centennial High School, Avery McMullen

For her big senior campaign with the Lady Cougars track and field team, Centennial High School’s Avery McMullen takes home our 2019 Female Athlete of the Year honor for the school.

In 2019, McMullen won her second-straight pentathlon for D-I Large Class schools.

This spring, she also won the gold in the long jump (5.77m), placed sixth in the high jump (1.62m) at Spring Fling’s D-I Large Class state meet.

She also won the county’s WillCo Award for the year’s best girls track athlete.

She will be attending the University of Colorado in the fall to run track.

“I’m so thankful for my family, friends and coaches who have helped me throughout the years,” she said on Twitter at the time of her signing.
