Ladd Park St. Jude home ready for June 23 giveaway
Completed at the end of April and furnished last week, the new St. Jude Dream Home at the Highlands in Ladd Park is ready for its new owner, who will be determined through a raffle held on June 23.
The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is a project of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital started in 1991 to raise funds for research. There are more than 10 states throughout the country in which homes were built, and the purchase of a $100 raffle ticket gives ticket holders a chance to win the new 4,000-square-foot house, which is located at 151 Princess Circle in Franklin.
All Nashville-area St. Jude homes since 2005 were constructed in Westhaven in Franklin.
Hillside Homes constructed this year’s house, and president Mark Kryscynski is pleased with the outcome.
“The design of the home was left completely up to myself,” Kryscynski said. “I wanted to design a home that was completely different from the homes previously built in our market, but I also had to keep in mind this home would be built from donated time and materials. I believe we have done a remarkable job in building a beautiful home, which will raise $1.5 million dollars for St. Jude.”
The Ladd Park house has four bedrooms, three full baths, two half baths, hand-scraped hardwood flooring, iron-entry front doors and barrel-vaulted ceilings.
“There are amazing things in the master bathroom,” Kryscynski said. “Faux painting on the ceilings and walls, artist murals and many more features in this home that make it special. Unfortunately, we want people to come out and see it, so I do not want to give it all away, but we are very happy with the results.”
The Dream Home director contacted Hillside Homes last fall in search of a new location and builder for the 2013 build. After seeing several Hillside Homes houses under construction at the time, Kryscynski was asked to be the contractor – an offer he immediately accepted.
“The Dream Home is such a special project to be involved with. It is amazing to watch all of my subcontractors and vendors come together to build this home with almost all donated time and materials. I am so proud of all of my guys for wanting to be a part of this. They have all given so much to this project,” Kryscynski said.
Ladd Park update:
Although Ladd Park subdivision developers could not be reached for this article, Chris O'Neal of Goodall Homes, one of several Ladd Park builders, said that his company is finishing up approximately 90 lots at present. O’Neil said there is a section of 45 homes, some of which are finished and some of which are underway, expected to be completed toward the end of the year.
“I myself feel so blessed to be involved with St. Jude on this project,” he added. “After visiting the St. Jude hospital on a few occasions now, it is very hard to put into words the feeling you get when you walk through the doors there. I feel like if I can help in saving one child's life, then every hour I put into this project is well worth my time.”
Though the home is the grand prize, other prizes include a $5,000 shopping spree at American Signature Furniture, a $1,000 American Express gift card and a one-year membership at Relevé One Fitness Studios.
According to Kryscynski, more than 5,000 tickets have already been sold, and St. Jude expects to sell another 10,000.
Tours of the home will be offered every weekend from May 11 to June 16.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 1-800-746-6713 or visiting an area Regions Bank or American Signature Furniture in Cool Springs.
The winner of the home will be announced June 23 on WZTV Fox 17 at 6 p.m.
