It’s been more than a month now since the Predators last felt the pain of a regulation loss.

That defeat was a well-documented doozy, of course, a 9-2 home-ice drubbing by the Dallas Stars on Feb. 15.

But the Predators have spent the last several weeks cleaning the ice with their opponents.

Heading into Tuesday’s home game against San Jose, Nashville is 12-0-2, in the midst of a 14-game point streak that is just one shy of the franchise record. The Preds posted at least a point in 15 straight contests (14-0-1) in 2017-18, the year the team captured the Presidents’ Trophy for the best regular season record in the NHL.

How’s that for going on a heater?

“It’s great,” Preds captain Roman Josi said recently on Bally Sports. “We’re having a lot of fun. It comes from us working hard … It feels like every game we just keep working. And every game, somebody else steps up. Just a lot of great team effort. It’s fun to play like that.”

Here’s a by-the-numbers look at a dozen of the Preds’ superlatives during the 14-game points streak:

1 — The Predators’ NHL rank in points percentage (.929), wins (12) and points (26).

1.93 — The Predators’ goals against average, second only to that of Colorado (1.88). In the first 54 games, Nashville’s goals against average was 3.28.

4 — The number of points the Predators were below the playoff line when the streak began. They’re now seven points above the playoff line.

4.07 — The Predators’ goals for average, first in the league. In the first 54 games, Nashville had averaged 2.96 goals per game.

5 — The number of Western Conference teams (St. Louis, Vegas, Los Angeles, Colorado and Winnipeg) ranked above the Predators in the standings at the time Nashville beat them.

5:30 — The amount of time the Predators have trailed in the third period.

6 — The number of multi-point games for Predators forward Filip Forsberg.

11 — The number of games goalie Juuse Saros has gone without a regulation loss during the streak. He has gone 9-0-2 with a 1.90 goals against average and .934 save percentage.

12 — The number of times the Preds have scored the game’s first goal.

18 — The amount of points totaled by Forsberg (10 goals, eight assists), forward Gustav Nyquist (six goals, 12 assists) and defenseman Roman Josi (six goals, 12 assists). Josi’s total is second-highest among NHL defensemen for that stretch of games.

28 — The number of goals the Preds have scored in third periods, the most in the NHL. The total includes eight empty-netters.

+30 — The goal differential for the Preds, as the team has scored 57 goals and allowed 27. In Nashville’s first 54 games, the team had a minus-15 goal differential.
