Franklin-based behavioral health giant Acadia Healthcare has named Stephanie Eken to the role of chief medical officer.

She succeeds Michael Genovese, who served in the position for seven years, and has not yet announced his next position, according to a press release.

Eken, who is based in Nashville, most recently worked for 15 years in various roles including as chief medical officer at Rogers Behavioral Health, a Wisconsin-based not-for-profit independent provider of mental health and addiction treatment. In her new role, she will lead clinical strategy for Acadia's locations.

Eken is a triple board-certified physician, according to the release, and a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.

“Acadia is thrilled to welcome Dr. Eken as our new chief medical officer,”  Chris Hunter, CEO of Acadia Healthcare, said in the release. “Her experience and expertise will help Acadia set the standard for care across the industry as we continue to grow, expand, and improve our clinical offerings, enabling us to serve more patients across the country.”

Acadia announced the acquisition of three treatment centers in North Carolina at the end of March. With the additions, the company now operates 253 locations in 38 states and Puerto Rico.
